Rotman MBAS Win International Private Equity Competition

Toron­to, ON – For the sec­ond week in a row a team of Full Time MBA stu­dents from the Uni­ver­si­ty of Toronto’s Rot­man School of Man­age­ment have won a pres­ti­gious inter­na­tion­al com­pe­ti­tion.

On Sat­ur­day, the Rot­man stu­dents won the Rot­ter­dam School of Man­age­ment Pri­vate Equi­ty Com­pe­ti­tion in Ams­ter­dam defeat­ing teams from INSEAD, IESE and George­town Uni­ver­si­ty in the final round. This year, the case involved can­di­dates in a live trans­ac­tion, cen­tered around a 91-year old Dutch retail­er, HEMA, where the pri­vate equi­ty spon­sor is look­ing for strate­gic exit options.

The team con­sist­ing of Deep­ak Kuri­an, MBA’18, Rasib Bhan­ji, MBA’18, Ali Jafri, MBA’18, Khang Ta, MBA’18, and Nero Por­las, MBA’18 took home the first prize. They are all mem­bers of the Rot­man Asset Man­age­ment Asso­ci­a­tion.

The annu­al RSM Pri­vate Equi­ty Com­pe­ti­tion aims to give stu­dents from top glob­al uni­ver­si­ties the oppor­tu­ni­ty to expe­ri­ence what work­ing in Pri­vate Equi­ty looks like and to net­work with estab­lished pro­fes­sion­als in the indus­try.
