Rotman MBA Honoured with Award from Forté Foundation

Toron­to, ON – A grad­u­at­ing stu­dent in the Full Time MBA pro­gram at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Toronto’s Rot­man School of Man­age­ment has received the Edie Hunt Inspi­ra­tion Award from the Forté Foun­da­tion.

Alex Walk­er Turn­er, MBA’17, received the award which rec­og­nizes the achieve­ments of a woman MBA stu­dent who has made sig­nif­i­cant con­tri­bu­tions to her school or com­mu­ni­ty to advance women into busi­ness lead­er­ship posi­tions.  Turn­er, along with four Rot­man class­mates, estab­lished a new ini­tia­tive, Rot­man LINKS, which con­nects Rot­man MBA stu­dents as men­tors to female under­grad­u­ates across the UofT cam­pus who might have an inter­est in busi­ness as a career. She also launched the first Cana­di­an Grad­u­ate Women in Man­age­ment Con­fer­ence held at the Rot­man School ear­li­er this year.

The award is named in hon­or of Forté’s Board Chair Emer­i­tus, Edie Hunt, a retired part­ner at Gold­man Sachs and was pre­sent­ed at Forté’s MBA Wom­en’s Lead­er­ship Con­fer­ence in Seat­tle on Sat­ur­day. This is the first time a stu­dent from the Rot­man School and a Cana­di­an busi­ness school has been hon­oured with the award.

“In her two years in the pro­gram Alex has had an impact on in the school and uni­ver­si­ty on an almost dai­ly basis,” says Niki da Sil­va, man­ag­ing direc­tor of the Rot­man Full Time MBA pro­gram.

Ear­li­er in the year Turn­er was named to the Poets&Quants “Best & Bright­est MBAs” list which hon­ours 100 of the world’s most accom­plished full-time MBAs in the Class of 2017.
